Introduction
Rayamp Solar Pty Ltd ("Rayamp", "we", "us", "our") is a Victorian residential solar and battery installer. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you enquire with us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). By contacting Rayamp or using rayampsolar.com.au, you consent to the collection and use of information as described below.
What information we collect
The information we collect is limited to what we reasonably need to design, quote, install and support a solar or battery system for your home.
Personal details
- Full name
- Email address and phone number
- Residential address and postcode
- Proof of eligibility for rebates (where applicable)
Home and energy usage data
- Recent electricity bills and tariff information
- Current retailer and any existing solar or battery hardware
- Typical daily usage patterns, including evening and weekend consumption
- NMI (National Meter Identifier) where you provide it
Site assessment data
- Roof orientation, pitch, shading, material and available space
- Switchboard condition and meter configuration
- Photographs of the roof, switchboard, meter box and proposed battery location taken during the site visit
- Notes from any in-home discussion relevant to the design of your system
Website usage data
When you visit rayampsolar.com.au we may collect limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and the pages you viewed. This information is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used.
How we collect it
Wherever reasonable, we collect personal information directly from you. That usually happens through one of the following:
- The contact form on rayampsolar.com.au
- A phone call to 1800 RAY AMP (1800 729 267) or a call back we schedule with you
- Email correspondence with our team at contact@rayampsolar.com.au
- An in-home site assessment, where a Rayamp consultant visits your property with your permission
- Documents you send us, such as electricity bills, existing system specifications or rebate paperwork
In some cases we may receive information about you from a third party you have authorised, such as your electricity retailer, your existing installer or a rebate program administrator.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Complete a free assessment of your home and energy usage, and prepare a tailored quote
- Design, supply and install a solar, battery or hybrid system that suits your home
- Apply for rebates, incentives and interest-free loans on your behalf, including Solar Victoria programs and the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme
- Meet our obligations under Australian electrical safety, Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation requirements, AS/NZS 5139 and AS/NZS 4777, and the Electricity Safety Act 1998 (Vic)
- Coordinate grid connection, meter reconfiguration and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) registration with your distribution network service provider
- Provide warranty support, servicing and after-sales communication
- Send you occasional updates about products, rebates or servicing, only where you have opted in to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with lead brokers or marketing list providers.
Disclosure to third parties
To deliver your system and meet our regulatory obligations, we may share relevant information with:
- SAA-accredited installers and electricians engaged by Rayamp to carry out the installation at your home
- Solar Accreditation Australia and its approved retailer and installer frameworks, where accreditation or compliance reporting requires it
- Solar Victoria and other rebate program administrators, for eligibility checks, rebate applications and post-installation reporting
- Your distribution network service provider (such as CitiPower, Powercor, Jemena, United Energy or AusNet), for pre-approval, connection and DER registration
- Electricity retailers, including GloBird Energy where you are on a joint Rayamp and GloBird plan, for meter reconfiguration, feed-in tariff setup and tariff administration
- Hardware manufacturers, for warranty registration and claims
- Finance providers, where you apply for an interest-free loan or payment plan through us
- Professional advisors and insurers, where it is necessary to protect our legal interests
- Government agencies and regulators, where required or authorised by law
We only share what is necessary for the purpose, and we expect the parties we work with to handle your information with the same care we do. We do not disclose your personal information overseas as a matter of course. If that ever changes, we will update this policy.
Data storage and security
Your information is held in secure business systems operated by Rayamp and a small number of trusted service providers based in Australia, including our CRM, quoting, document storage and email platforms. Access is restricted to staff and contractors who need it for their role.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. These steps include access controls, password protection, encryption in transit, staff training and physical security at our premises. No system is ever completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or from us over the internet.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to provide our services, support your system over its warranty life, and meet our legal and regulatory record-keeping obligations. After that we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading
- Withdraw your consent to receive marketing communications at any time
- Make a complaint if you believe we have handled your personal information in a way that breaches the APPs
To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@rayampsolar.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. If we are unable to resolve your complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, legal requirements or business practices. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated where reasonable.
